THE STORY OF A MOUNTAIN WATERMAN CULTURE

PADDLE CAMP

dates: June 29 - July 2, 2020 

age: 7 -17 years young

hours: 9 am - 11 am daily

location: Watermans Landing

A fun and educational paddling camp designed for all junior ages 17 and under.  Kids will paddle all different crafts and explore Lake Tahoe while learning to love and appreciate the outdoors.  They arrive with a purpose to learn how to paddle human power watercraft and leave at the end of the session with a love and passion for paddling and living a healthy lifestyle. The participant will develop paddling skills for stand-up paddleboarding, outrigger canoeing, surfski paddling, and prone paddleboarding and they’ll learn all the essentials of water safety.  The Paddle Camp is an initiation to the sport for new paddlers and a refresher for the experienced paddlers, touching base on the fundamentals of paddle sports, new paddlers will be introduced all ocean paddle sport discipline. A natural progression to enroll in Team Tahoe Waterman, and attend the Watergrom camp or the Junior Waterman Camp.

PADDLE CAMP INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

  • SUP board and paddle

  • Outrigger Canoe and paddle

  • Prone paddleboard

  • Surfski Kayak and paddle

  • PFD’s (personal floating device)

  • Coaching and mentoring

  • Entry to Tahoe Paddle Racing Series

AVAILABLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL COST

  • Personal PFD

  • Swim goggles

  • Water shoes

  • Wetsuits and water shirts

  • Lunch

  • Sunscreen

SKILLED LEARNED

  • Paddling fundamentals

  • Paddling techniques and tactics

  • Water awareness and safety

  • Athletic skills

  • Developing relationships

  • Defining the self within a group

DAILY CURRICULUM 

  • Hours: Mon-Thurs, 9 am to 11 am

  • Meet and greet

  • Daily warm-up

  • Daily fitness sessions, outrigger paddling, stand-up paddleboarding, prone paddleboarding, surfski paddling, water safety.
